Today is a big day for all the Apple fans. At Apple iPhone OS 4 Event, Apple CEO Steve Jobs give a sneak peek into the future of the Highly anticipated iPhone OS 4.0. We have heard many of rumors and speculation about what it will bring, but now the truth finally came out. Introduced by Steve Jobs, the new iPhone OS get over 100 new user features, include some of the most expected.
Apple show up 7 particular important features which they calling "Tentpole" features at the developer preview of the iPhone OS 4.Multitasking
This might be mentioned in every rumors, and yes, it's happened. At the event Steve Jobs announced,"We weren't first to the party, but we're gonna be the best." According to his words, the iPhone OS 4 solved two biggest issues, when the multitasking come to iPhone, users are no need to worry about the hinder performance or short-lived battery life.
To introduced this feature, Scott Forstall, SVP of iPhone software said,"How are we adding multitasking while preserving battery life and performance. We looked at tens of thousands of apps in the app store, and we’ve distilled the services those apps need to run in the background. So we implemented those services, and we’re providing those services as APIs to developers so they can add multitasking while preserving battery life." He also listed the most splendid improvements of the iPhone OS 4 Multitasking:
Background audio, Voice over IP, Background location, Push notifications, Local notifications, and Fast app switching.
He said:
"Pandora is great, but until now if you left Pandora go to another app, The mosaic would stop. Not anymore!"
And for Skype, using iPhone OS 4, you can make a Skype call every where and receive the Skype call even you're not running the Skype. Also the Multitasking allows you keep chatting with your friends when you using other apps.
Folders
You can create folders on your iPhone by using the new iPhone OS 4 to get more effectively manage of the large numbers of apps you've download from the App Store. You just need to drag and drop apps to the created application folders. And this will take the maximum number of the visually app on an iPhone from 180 to 2160!
About the Mail, Apple finally brought Unified inbox to it. According to Steve Jobs, “The average user spends over 30 minutes using apps on their phone. If we said we wanted to put an ad up every 3 minutes, that’d be 10 ads per device per day ‚ about the same as a TV show. We’re going to soon have 100m devices. That’s a billion ad opportunities per day!”
