To express Apple's thought on Flash, Steve Jobs wrote a long open letter and posted on Apple's website. The letter he wrote give a very detailed interpretation about why Apple has decided not to support Flash on their mobile devices, and confirmed that there won't be any Flash supporting in the future.
"Flash was created during the PC era — for PCs and mice." Jobs writes, "Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short."
He considers Flash an outdated technic, and not that important like what Adobe has said. Jobs said that the web standers should be open, like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, while Flash is not. And the web won't be any different without Flash, there're more modern format to support users need, like H.264. "YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others. iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video." And for games, there're over 50,000 games already on the App Store who need the Flash Game. Another thought is about the security and performance. And since all the mobile era is about low power, decoding video in software (which Flash is about) uses too much power, and there already a better way (H.264) for it, Flash is just drains the battery and no longer needed.
He listed all the disadvantage if support Flash on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. So now is confirmed that Flash is a relic.
