Mefeedia, a media search website, did some works on its index to find trends of video in H.264 and HTML5, which are used in Apple's devices. Acccording to a new survey by Mefeedia, now there's 26% of web video ready for the iPad.
- 26% of all web video is now available for playback in HTML5 using the H.264 format*
- Most sites that support HTML5 will detect iPad users and switch to an HTML5-compatible format, (only YouTube enables this functionality on their embeds on other sites though).
- For News, recent stories are available, but most back library content is not yet re-encoded.
- There is very little HTML5 supported episodic content available from major TV networks (ABC has an app, but no full episodes available on their website).
You may think 26% doesn't seem like a big part, but it point out a good growth of iPad-ready video. Just few month age, there is only 10% of web video is iPad-accessible, while now the number is up to a new high, and this growth is even faster than the recent Apple iPad release. While Adobe probable won't like to seeing this news, but for iPad users, it means that in the future there'll be more and more web videos adapt to iPad, and more fun will come to you.
